• Received “Visharad” title for Kathak (Theory and Practical) from Bhatkhande Sangit Vidyapith, Lucknow, in 2008. Placed in First Division.
• Received “Nrityaprabha” title from Bengal Music College, Kolkata with First Division and stood first in the year 2001.
• Learned Bharatanatyam and Manipuri, other two Indian classical dance forms from well known ‘Gurus’ for four years. At present specializing in Bharatanatyam under the able guidance of Shri P.T.Narendran (Kalakshetra, Chennai).
• Completed Junior Diploma in Bharatanatyam from Prayag Sangit Samiti, Allahabad with distinction in both theory and practical in 2015.

FIELD OF SPECIALIZATION : Specialized in Kathak and practicing the dance form for the last 25 years under the tutelage and guidance of Guru Surangama Lala Dasgupta. Also well versed in Indian Creative Choreographic styles and has choreographed many Dance ballets based on Classical Indian Dance forms and as well as Rabindrik (Tagore) dance style. Special interest in bridging the gap between conventional academics and performing arts. Preparing papers and concepts on various aspects of performing arts and connecting academic subjects with it.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING/EXPERIENCE :
• From the year 2007 to 2009 taught Kathak and folk dances at Bengal Music College, the oldest and the most prestigious institute of Kolkata.
• Teaching Kathak, Rabindrik & other dance forms at Suchanda Sangitalaya from 2004.
• Taught History in Patha Bhavan, Kolkata as a temporary recruitment in June-August 2015.
• Held Dance workshops in Gokhale Memorial Girls’ School in 2015.
• A regular judge of Dance Competitions in Don Bosco School, Kolkata and also Aurobindo Bhavan, Kolkata from the year 2010.
• Famous exponent of Kathak, Smt. Surangama Dasgupta teaching for 25 years and still continuing.
• Presently learning Bharatanatyam from Shri P.T. Narendran (Kalakshetra, Chennai)
• Learned Manipuri from Smt. Bimbavati Devi & Smt. Pavitra Devi for four years. Done workshop and performance under Smt. Darshana Zhaveri in Manipuri.

PARTICIPATION IN NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCE/DEMONSTRATIONS: • Given many performances at Kolkata and also at other places since 1990.
• Given several performances in Kolkata and outside since 1991. Warmly applauded by the media.
• Visited Germany in 2000, gave recitals and in Berlin, Cologne, Frankfurt, Essen, Heidelberg, Geissen, and Paderborn. Also conducted workshops in Cologne and Marburg. Her Recitals were highly acclaimed.
• Performed in a unique ballet (conceived and choreographed by Surangama Dasgupta) in Kathak style based on the poems and songs of the great German poet, Heinrich Heine. This recital was performed at Max Mueller Bhavan, Indian Museum (during the German Festival in India), Mahajati Sadan, Gyan Mancha and other places. It was highly praised by the connoisseurs and the media. Parts of this programme were also telecasted.
• Performed in Shakespeare’s Macbeth in Indian Classical Dance form (choreographed by Surangama Dasgupta). She is the first one to present Macbeth in dance drama style, which was highly acclaimed by the media.
• Performed with the IPTA (Bharatiya Gana Natya Sangha) songs in Kathak and folkdance form, which was widely praised by the mass.
• Presented German poet Goethe’s West-Oestlicher Divan in Indian classical dance style at the German Consulate .
• Performed at a special programme organized by the National Academy of Audit & Accounts, Shimla in 2007 along with her Guru, Smt. Surangama Dasgupta. They were specially invited for this programme.
• Performed several times at Jadavpur University at fests and seminars.
• Performed at a two-day conference on Rabindranath Thakur at Lucknow in September 2012. Co-performed with her Guru, Smt. Surangama Dasgupta and her brother Suramya Pushan Dasgupta. A dance drama on Stree’s Potro was staged (choreographed by Guru Surangama Dasgupta). Stree’r Potro (The Wife’s Letter) is a unique short story by Rabindranath Thakur.
• Performed a dance ballet choreographed by Guru Surangama Dasgupta at the Tagore Society in Jamshedpur in May 2012. The dance ballet is based on the songs and poems of Rabindranath centering around the cosmic concept of Nataraja. The dance drama on Stree’s Potro was also staged.
• Performed at the Kathak Utsav held at Sisir Mancha in the year 2008. It was staged by Guru Surangama Dasgupta and her disciples.
• Performed at ‘The Moving Space: Women in Performance’ – a two-day National Seminar organized by Dance Alliance, India and School of Women’s Studies, Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Also presented a paper at the Seminar.
• Choreographed a dance ballet on the concept of fire- Fire one of the most important of the five elements and how fire is used for sacred functions and how fire also destroys lives, how fire is used to burn someone, also how fire purifies the inner self – “Aguner Poroshmoni Chhoaon Prane…”. It was staged at the Jadavpur University in 2006.
• Choreographed many dance pieces on Rabindrasangeet in Kathak style. These were staged at the Annual programme of Bengal Music College in the year 2005.
• Choreographed various dance pieces on Sufi Songs based on Contemporary and Kathak styles. These were staged in different auditoriums of Kolkata including Gyan Manch and St. Xavier’s Hall.
• Organised and choreographed the Annual programme of Academia Excellence in September 2012.
• Performed at Bharat Bhushan Dance Festival in Mysore in April 2013 along with her dance colleague Debamita Gupta. They were the only artistes to perform Kathak at the festival held at Jagan Mohan Palace in Mysore.
• Performed and held workshops all over Germany along with her Guru Surangama Dasgupta in the year 2013.
• Choreographed and directed a dance recital named “Chaturongo” with Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Manipuri and Odissi at the Reunion of History Department, Jadavpur University in February 2014.
• Choreographed, conceptualized and directed a Dance Drama named “Matir Kanya” dealing with women’s issues. This drama was staged twice at Gandhi Bhavan, Jadavpur University, Kolkata. It was also staged as a part of the International Programme ‘One Billion Rising’ against violence on women in the year 2014.
• Performed at the Dance Festival organized by India World Cultural Forum in Delhi in 2014. Performed along with Bidushi Surangama Dasgupta and Suramya Pushan Dasgupta. The recital comprised a script on the issue of Child Labour. It was highly acclaimed.
• Held Kathak workshops in Germany in Summer and Autumn 2015 along with her Guru Surangama Lala Dasgupta.
• Performed Solo Kathak at the Indian Embassy in Berlin on 6th October, 2015.
• Gave several performances at different cities in Germany in October-November 2015 including Berlin, Frankfurt, Marburg etc.
• Choreographed a dance Ballet on Tagore’s Bhanusimher Padaboli in Kathak and staged on 27th August, 2015 at Satyajit Ray Auditorium, ICCR, Kolkata under the guidance of her Guru.

OTHER INFORMATION AND SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS:
• Presented a paper on NAYIKA BHEDA titled “NATYASHASTRA’S ASHTANAYIKAS REVISITED” on 5th February 2013 at the Two Day National Seminar organized by International Dance Alliance and School of Women’s Studies, Jadavpur University- The Moving Space: Women in Dance.
• Presented a paper titled “CHANDRAMUKHI: HER JOURNEY THROUGH FILMS AND THE CHANGING FACE OF KATHAK” – A comparative study of the dance and portrayal of the character Chandramukhi in the movies DEVDAS plyed by Vyajanthimala and Madhuri Dixit. The paper was presented at the WOMEN’S WORLD CONGRESS 2014, UNIVERSITY OF HYDERABAD in August 2014.
• Presented a paper on “DANCE IN ACADEMIA” focusing on Kathak at the 6th Annual Graduate Conference of the Cluster of Excellence “THE FORMATION OF NORMATIVE ORDERS”, Goethe University Frankfurt / Campus Westend (13-14 November 2015) – TITLED : “THE POWER OF/IN ACADEMIA: CRITICAL INTERVENTIONS IN KNOWLEDGE PRODUCTION AND SOCIETY.
• Organised Fests at Jadavpur University, Kolkata from 2007 to 2009.
• Organised the Annual Programme of Academia Excellence in September 2012.
• Was one of the choreographers and organizers of the Annual Programme of Bengal Music College in the year 2005, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
• Started her own line of hand-made junk jewellery, exclusive waistcoats and jackets, home decor along with a friend. The line is namely, Khowabnama.

Presently posted at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre of the Embassy of India in Beijing as A Dance Teacher cum Performer.
